Summary of Research Interests
My research focuses on personality at work. Specific lines of inquiry include:
Two key themes of my work are attention to methodological rigor and the importance of integrative taxonomies for theory building. For management scholarship to advance and for quality theory to be developed, it is critical that our findings be reliable, replicable, and that we have integrative taxonomies for organizing and discussing our scientific constructs.
Personality represents a valuable human capital resource. As such, the overall goal of my research is to produce knowledge about this resource that enhances the performance and flourishing of individuals and organizations alike.
- Theoretical structure and applied assessment of personality traits associated with success at work (e.g., self-monitoring, extraversion, conscientiousness, agreeableness, Type A behavior)
- Occupational characteristics (e.g., person-occupation fit, occupational complexity)
- Interpersonal work criteria (e.g., interpersonal performance, leadership)
- Research methods (i.e., meta-analysis, psychometrics, criterion profile analysis, taxometrics)
